    The Nokia 1011, invented by Nokia rather than one person, was the first widely portable mobile phone. Mobile phones were invented in the 1980s, but they were big and cumbersome to carry around. This was the first cell phone to be highly transportable and changed the way mobile phones were made.
  • Text Messages

    Neil Papworth sent the first text message (typed on a computer since phones did not have keyboards yet), which said "Merry Christmas." Now, pretty much everyone sends text messages every day.
  • Nintendo 64

    Nintendo 64
    The Nintendo 64 was the first home video game console with an analog stick as the primary controller to be released. In following years, other video game companies followed suit, and the analog stick became standard, allowing users to aim with more precision while playing video games. It did not get released in the US until September 1996.

    Google
    Google, the biggest and most successful search engine, was invented by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Although other search engines preceded Google, like Archie (invented in 1990), this search engine transformed how people used the Internet and became the most well-known engine.
