    Americans with disability act
    This is a law signed in 1990 to protect discrimination based on disablities. The law was simmilar to the civil rights act of 1964 that prevented discrimination of race, gender, religion and among other things. The act was first recommended in 1986 by the NAtional Council of Disabilities. The act got support form the public but also som oppostions from religious groups.

    Clarence Thomas was nominated to the supreme court by George W. Bush. During confirmation hearings he was accused by Anita Hill of sexual harassment. His nomination was moved to the senate to vote. He was confirmed by a narrow 52 to 48 in the voting.

    Hurrican Andrew was the most destructive hurricane of it's time. The biggest impact was in south Florida where it was classified as a category 5 hurricane the winds blew up to 165 mph. Over 25,000 houses were destroyed in the Miami area and 65 people lost their lives. Andrew lasted for 12 days and it was the first hurricane of the hurricane season in 1992.

    The battle was between US soldiers and Somalian men who supported the self proclaimed president. It was the first battle of Mogadishu. Between 800 and 1000 Somalian civilians were killed during the battle. During the events in Somalia Somalian men shot down two Black Hawk which was a big psycological victory for them. The event inspiered a bokk called Black Hawk Down.

    The trial was a crimminal trial of football star and actor O.J.Simpson who was tried for murder of his ex-wife and waiter Ronald Goldman. The trial went on for months and got a verdict on octoder 3 1995. O.J.Simpson was found not guilty. The reaction of the publoc was mixed but most people did think thet he was guilty.

    TWA flight 800 Explosion
    IN 1996 a Boeing 747 exploded and crashed in the atlantic ocean close to New York. It crashe d12 minutes from it's departure from JFK international airport in NEw York. Unfortunatly all 230 people onboard died in the crash. The event was investigated adn the conclusion was that it was not a terrorist attack but flamable fuel in a fuel tank. the flight was planned to go to Rome, Italy.

    The olympic park bombing was a terrorist attac in Olympia park in Atlanta Georgia during the summer olympic games. Ultimatly 2 people died and 110 people got injured. It was the first of four bombings by Eric Rudolph. In 2003 Rudolph was arrested and sentenced to life time in prison.

    NATOs bombings were their miltiary operation against the Serbian people and the free republic of Ygoslavia during the Kosovo war Their operation was called "Operation Allied Force". NATOs goal was to end the activities by the Milosevic government and a withdrawl of all militay forces from Kosovo. The civilian casulties were between 480 to 530.

    The Columbine shooting was a school shooting in Colorado. Two high school seniors killed a total of 13 people in the school and than they comited suicides. It was one of the deadliest high school shootings in US history. The shooting started the debate over gun control laws and bullying.
