    Motorola "Bag" Phone
    In 1988 Motorola invented the Bag Phone. Not many people had one, but businesses started to have them in their company cars around 1990. This was closest most got to having a mobile phone at the time. It was a giant phone you carried around in a literal bag and it had a long cord just like your home phone. This was brilliant for calling for directions and never having to get out of your car!

    Video Phones
    ATT invented the world's first full color Video Phone - the VideoPhone 2500. I never knew anyone that had one of these, as they were about $1500 at the time.
    This was the first form of communication that most of us Gen-Xers has only seen in the cartoon The Jetsons. It would eventually lead to FaceTime that everyone has now.
  • Nokia 1011 - First Text Enabled Cell Phone

    Nokia 1011 - First Text Enabled Cell Phone
    The Nokia 1011 was the first cell phone to support SMS text messages. This was the beginning of a new way to communicate with others. This would end up changing the way we communicate for decades to come!
  • DVD Players

    DVD Players
    Toshiba SD-3000 sold the world's first DVD player. This changed the way we watch movies at home. The quality compared to the previously popular VHS tapes was fantastic. The best part? No more having to rewind your VHS tapes!
  • Apple iMac

    Apple iMac
    Apple released the first iMac. This was the first in a long line of computers that were designed for beauty over function. More and more people were using computers for the Internet and had no use for being able to tinker with or manipulate the hardware. They had an all-in-one creative design with bright colored transparent casing. People wanted one because they looked cool and you didn't have a separate Monitor and tower.
