CD Player (1982)
CDP – 101, sounds like a name from Star Wars, but it's actually the name of the first CD player. The compact music device was manufactured by Sony, but the name, the name was chosen by Nobuyuki Idei. The idea of the compact music device would soon change the world of music, allowing many people to listen to music in their homes with such small devices. The CD players would soon be in almost everyone’s homes, and this would start the technological advances for music lovers everywhere. -
Camcorder (1983)
In 1983, Sony came out with the Betamovie, which was designed for the Betamax format. Originally these camcorders were designed for news organizations but soon they were offered to nearly everyone, who could afford one at the time of course. This newer designed created competition between Sony and Panasonic and from this moment on, recording devices only got better. Nearly everyone today carries a recording device with them, cell phones. -
Apple MacIntosh (1984)
This was the first computer created to be used by the normal “person in the street”. The idea of having access or owning a computer in 2021 is very ideal. This idea would have never occurred if it wasn’t for the Apple MacIntosh. The Apple MacIntosh was created by Steve Jobs and the Apple company in 1984. The idea of an at home computer was thrilling when I was a kid in the early 2000’s, but it has quickly developed into being able to carry that “at home computer” in a backpack, nearly anywhere. -
Windows 1.0 (1985)
Shortly after the Apple MacIntosh was released, the idea of the Windows application began. Windows 1.0 was created and launched in November of 1985. It was created by Microsoft and the one and only, Bill Gates. Although the designed only lasted 16 years, it was a huge milestone for the Windows company. Microsoft Windows applications are used on almost every computer in the world and with ease. These applications allow learners, teachers, and professionals everywhere to do the jobs they need to. -
Nintendo Gameboy (1989)
The Nintendo company was established in 1889, but who knew that 100 years later they’d come out with one of the best inventions ever, the Nintendo Gameboy. The Nintendo Gameboy was created by Gunpei Yokoi. The Gameboy was a kick start to mobile/handheld gaming systems. The idea of being able to take your game console anywhere has had a huge impact to the gaming world, even to this day. New handheld gaming systems come out almost every year, all thanks to the idea of the Nintendo Gameboy.
