2000 - The Sims
In 2000, The SIMS game was released. I remember my older cousin used to LOVE playing this on PC, and it was the first game that I knew of its kind. Building a family, a house and a neighborhood were all essential to the game , almost like a virtual world. Although it was somewhat of a tedious game, I enjoyed it when it came out. I think this games success was a jump start for alot of the virtual world games we have today. -
2001 - Xbox
In 2001, Microsoft steps into the gaming world with the Xbox. Sony was getting ready to release the PS2, so they had some heavy new competition on the horizon. Xbox was known for its high quality graphics at the time. I remember everyone wanting to get the new Xbox. My dad got it for me one year for Christmas and I played it all the time. Xbox would eventually become thee largest gaming console in the world today, right net to Sony's Playstation. -
2003 - MySpace.com
Although it's no longer a big social network like it once was, it is safe to say MySpace was definitely a stepping stone and a huge part of the upcoming of social networks. I don't think I got my MySpace until it got a little bigger around 2005-2006, but I remember I was all about it. From photos, to music on your profile, to custom backgrounds, MySpace was ahead of its time. -
2007 - Dropbox
In 2007, the Dropbox was invented. It's crazy to think that it has been around for 13 years now, but I feel like I've only been using it on my iPhone for the last 5.Dropbox was important because it made sharing so much easier when working on group projects. -
2009 - Bitcoin
In 2009, the first Bitcoin wass '"mined" and a year later was used to buy 2 pizzas. Who would of guessed that 10 years later the Bitcoin would now be valued at over $13,000. It also only seems to be increasing, so I think now is a good time to invest. It's better late than never! All cryptocurrency is seeing a jump in value right now, but Bitcoin is one of the originals.
