Hydrogen Bomb
In 1952 we got a bomb dropped on us... Not literally but we got a new weapon and it was invented by Edward Teller. He worked on the Manhatten project during WW2 and he was at the center of controversy at that time as well. Source

Implantable pacemaker
In 1959 an amazing man who had a smile that could kill, Wilson Greatbatch, invented the implantable pacemaker. I can't begin to say how many people this man had helped and saved their lives. Just simply incredible to have this be invented in the 1950s and helped people till now. Source
