Protests happened that had no violence in the 1950s and 60s, and they broke the pattern of public places being divided by “race” in the Southern regions. They achieved equal rights, which seemed to be an impossible feat. One major person in this movement was Martin Luther King, Jr. He stood up for what he believed in, and he died doing it. He is a big inspiration in many people's lives even today! -
