The Snowy Mountains Scheme was created in 1949 to capture energy created through capturing and changing the course of melting snow of the mountains to the Murray and Murrumbidgee Rivers to give to farms in New South Wales and Victoria. 100 000 workers of 30 different nationalities worked on the scheme.
