D-Day
Operation Overlord ("D-Day") was the Allies' attempt to retake the Northern part of France back from Germany. Over 150 thousand Allied men were sent from England in landing craft, boats, and other means of transportation across the English Channel to invade France by sea. The invasion would be a massive success with the Allies eventually driving out the Germans and resecuring France. -

Just three days after the Hiroshima bombing, the United States would drop another atomic bomb on Nagasaki, another large city in Japan. The combination of the two bombings would eventually cause Japan to surrender. -

The Korean War was a conflict that started when North Korea invaded South Korea. The Soviet Union would support the North Korean effort while the United States would support the South Koreans. The war ended with a stalemate and the signing of the Korean War Armistice Agreement. -
