Ended: 3/26/1945. The battle of Iwo Jima was a fight against the United States Marine Corps and the Japanese Imperial Army. The goal of the attack was so that the United States could capture the island of Iwo Jima, and they came out successful! It is considered to be one of the bloodiest battles of WW2. -
Okinawa
Ended: June 22nd, 1945. A battle on the island of Okinawa between the Imperial Japanese Army and the Allied forces. It was the largest amphibious landing in WW2. It also had the largest amount of casualties. The Allied forces wanted to capture Okinawa to use it as an air base. -
Hiroshima
The bombing of Hiroshima is one of the two nuclear bombs set off by the US in World War 2. Hiroshima was set off in the town of Hiroshima because there were a lot of military bases there, but unfortunately a lot of civilians were killed. -
Cold War
End: 1991. The cold war was a period of time in which the United States and Soviet Union were being passive aggressive towards each other. It was an arms race in which each country was trying to out gun each other to be intimidating. Not a single shot was fired. -
