    Battle of the Atlantic
    Ended-May 8, 1945
    This was the longest continuous military campaign in WWII. The main part of the Battle of the Atlantic was it’s allied naval blockade of Germany at the core. It used U boats and other German Navy boats and German Airforce aircraft against the US Navy, Royal Canadian Navy, and Royal Navy.
  • Jeep

    Jeep
    Jeep was invented in 1940, which they then went on to help in WWII. They were part of the American war effort as being a lightweight all-terrain vehicle.
  • Price of Houses

     Price of Houses
    From 1940-1949 the price of a new house went from $3,920 to $7,450. This just shows how inflation effects the price of things over a short period of time.
  • Battle of Britain

  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Pearl Harbor was the attack that led the US into WWII. It was a surprise attack from the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service on the Hawaiian Territroy. It was an attack from Japan to keep the US from interfering with military actions that were planned for Southeast Asia. For the US all eight of our Navy battleships were damaged, with four of them eventually sinking.

  • Invasion of Italy

  • D-Day

    D-Day
    This event is also know as Normandy landings but best known as D-Day. It was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The event took place in Normandy, France. The US created at military deception to try and mislead the Germans with the true information on the time and location of the main allied landings. This event started on June 6th, 1944 but the main objective of connecting all 5 beachheads was not successful until June 12th.

  • Microwave Oven

    Microwave Oven
    Was invented in 1946 when Dr. Percy Spencer was testing a vacuum tube. He took notice to a candy bar that had melted in his pocket from the heat of the vacuum tube. He then went on to create a metal box that would contain the energy that now is known as the microwave.

  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    The European Recovery Program, aka Marshall Plan, was a US plan to help Western Europe. The US gave thirteen billion dollars to them, which today would roughly translate to one hundred forty billion dollars. This money was given to help the economy of Western Europe after the end of WWII. The Marshall Plan helped many war torn places by increasing barriers and helped encourage more productivity.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    Ended-September 30, 1949
    The Berlin Airlift was created after Western Allies decided to respond to the Soviet Union blocking their railways, roads, and canals. So the Western Allies used to Airlift to carry supplies to the people of West Berlin. In one year, aircrews flew over 200,000 flights provided roughly 8,893 tons of supplies to the people.
