German Concentration camps
Ended on January 27th 1945. These camps were created by Nazi Germans in an attempt to essentially rewire the minds of Jews and others. They would take them wherever they found them and our them in these camps, and teach them the Nazi way of life. It was literally brainwash. -
FDR elected for 3rd term
On this day, FDR was elected for his 3rd consecutive term. This was, and still is, the most terms ever served by a US president, let alone serving them consecutively. -
Pearl Harbor
On this date, the Japanese ran bombing runs via airplane through US Naval base, Pearl Harbor. This would result in more than 2300 American casualties. It also completely obliterated one of the US battleships, the U.S.S. -
D-Day
On this day, the allies of WWII invaded the beaches of Normandy in an attempt to take down the control of Nazi Germany. This resulted in the largest amphibious attack in world history, and the Allied liberation of Western Europe from the control of Nazi Germany. -

Iwo Jima
Ended March 26 1945. Iwo Jima was the biggest casualty count in within the Allied forces in WWII. One third of all marine lives lost during WWII happened in Iwo Jima. This was also the only battle in the entire war in which the Allied forces lost more troops than the Japanese did. -
Nagasaki
The US Air Force dropped two atomic bombs on Japan in response to Pearl Harbor. One of the bombs was dropped on Hiroshima, the other, on Nagasaki. This would result in hundreds of thousands of Japanese deaths, and would eventually lead to the Japanese surrendering at the end of WWII. This was not only the first, but the only time to date, that atomic bombs have been used in a war. -

Ended 1991. This time period was a period of geological tension mainly between the United State and Russia. This actually was never a “war” persay, but rather a standoff of sorts. The US and Russia were both insanely powerful, and both feared that the other would use the buildup of weapons that they had on the other. -

Jackie Robinson breaks color barrier
On this day, Jackie Robinson played his first ever game in the Major Leagues. This is very historic because it is the first African-American baseball player to ever make it to the major leagues.
