Jeep was invented
In 1940, when WW2 was going on, the american army needed a fast and though vessel to get around. It came to be that Karl Probst invented the first jeep. -
First colour TV
The first commercial colour TV was invented by Peter Goldmark. At the time it wasn't very good and was improved after WW2. Later on it was replaced by and all electric colour system that was compatible with black and white transmission. -
First plane with radar
In 1941 the first the first RAF (Royal air force) aircraft equipped with radar took to the sky. This radar helped England win the battle that they were having at the time with Germany. Unlike modern radars, this one invented by ACM Dowding, did not rotate. It was more like a broad beam of radio pulses that was transmitted, 'floodlighting' a vast area. The only problem was that when German bombers got past the coast line the radar couldn't detected them anymore. -
Duct tape (duck tape) invented
Richard Drew is the inventor of this beautiful invention that is still used very much today. The US military troops called it "duck tape" as it water ran off it but later adapted to Duct Tape because of it's use to provide a seal over duct works. -
SCUBA
Émile Gagnan and Jacques-Yves Cousteau found a way to breah under water. SCUBA (Back then it was called aqua lungs). It used an air pressure regulator and due to the war that was going on it didn't hit the market until 1946. -
Sunscreen!
Benjamin Green, an airman and pharmacist, uses a greasy substance called “red vet pet” (red veterinary petrolatum) to protect himself and other soldiers from ultraviolet rays during World War II. Heavy and unpleasant, it works primarily as a physical barrier between the skin and the sun. -
Atomic bomb...

Bombing on Hiroshima
Later on August 6 1945, an American B-29 bomber dubbed Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. It was the first time a nuclear weapon had been deployed in warfare and the bomb immediately killed 80,000 people. 1 month later Japan surrenders and the war is over.
