Invention of the telephone
Both Alexander Graham Bell and Elisha Gray submitted independent patent applications concerning telephones to the patent office in Washington on February 14, 1876. However, the "famous" phone call occurred between Bell and his assistant. He said, "Mr. Watson, come here. I want to see you.” This confirmed that the telephone actually worked. -
The Battle of Little Bighorn
This battle was between the warriors of the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes, and men of the 7th Regiment of the US Cavalry. The U.S. ended up losing this battle, but the battle was known for basically being a battle of two different cultures. -
Rutherford B. Hayes wins the election of 1877
Rutherford B. Hayes was declared the winner of the election of 1877 and soon afterward was inaugurated as the president of the United States. -
James A. Garfield wins the Presidential Election of 1880
Garfield won 399 votes to Grant's 306, putting him over the top and giving him the Republican nomination. He was inaugurated soon after the election. -

Idaho becomes a state
The state of Idaho was formed on July 3, 1890, when it became the forty-third state to gain statehood. Idaho was initially inhabited by Native Americans who still live in the region to this day.
