Sharecropping and Tenant Farming
Sharecropping was a labor system that followed after the reconstruction to try to help poor whites and freedmen. With most people crop and debt wasn't the problem it was the landowners attempt to control what they did 24/7. (Georgia Encyclopedia) This lasted from 1861 to 1865. -
Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation declared the freedom of all slaves in any state of the confederates. This placed a new outlook on the future for both black and white, which lead us to the freedom of people we have today. (Georgia Info and Georgia Encyclopedia) -
Sherman's March to the Sea
Sherman took an army and marched from Atlanta to Savannah to destroy Georgia and the military resources. Sherman personally thought that his march was a good idea because it would bring the sad reality of war home to people who couldn't fight in the war. (Georgia Info) -
Klu Klux Klan
The Klu Klux Klan was a loosely organised group of terrorist. Their goal was to defeat the Republican Party and receive the rights of blacks back. After the first KKK ended many men claimed to have been in it and saved Georgia and the south from the "Negro Domination". (Georgia Encyclopedia) This latest from 1868 to the early 1870's.
