    The importance of the Dred Scott case was that the Sumpreme court made it so that slaves in America could not be ruled as citizens even in slavery-free states. The Supreme Court also said that the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional.

    This election was significant because it had shown how divided the United States truly was. This election also happened pretty close to the beginning of the Civil War. Many Southern States no longer felt like they were being heard in elections or in politics. Abraham Lincoln ended up winning.
