    Uncle Tom's Cabin
    This was a book written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Written for the purpose to help Stowe process and understand slavery. She did not approve of slavery. This book would come to become very controversial because northerns and southerns believed it misrepresented slavery.

    It consisted of northern protesters, facotry worker, prossional, buisnessmen. Northerns were a majority. They were anti-expantion of slavery. They also believe in the restrction of labor union.

    This act repealed the Missouri Compromise. It also opened the question on if they should or should not allow slavery on western expanstion. And also produced "Bleeding Kansa" since proslavery and anti-slavery people were strong believers in there beliefs. Causing tenstion for later events and eventually war.

    It was between por-slavery and anti-slavery settlers. There were 55 people killed during this "argument". Parshly started by John Brown. It made the Northerns (anti-slave) and Southerns (pro-slave) have even more bad blood between each other. Overall this "raid" was an important imfluence to the civil war.

    Sumner got beaten so badly it could have killed him. Which led to the countries polarization on the issue of slavery. Considered to be symbolic if "breakdown of reason discourse" and its willingness to resort to violence that had eventually lead to the Civil War. Brooks beat Sumner with a cane. At the end for the South Brooks was a legend while for the North he was a villain. Brooks was most likely upset to be called out by Sumners two day speech on the South crimes against Kansas.

    James Buchana Won the election. Becoming the 15th president. He was a democrat. He refused to settle a side on the topic of slavery which ends up leading to the civil war since it was passed onto his successor. He also did not contribute to trying to stop the secession crisis.

    He was a black man who believed he could win a case against a white man over freedom. The court did not agree with him and stated he was a man with no rights and will never have rights because he was born in African Desent. It divided the North and South a lot more people the Northerns did believed this blackman had to right to be free and brought up the topic of slavery again. The constitution did not name him a free man.

    It was a pro-slavery document. It would have allowed slavery in the state of Kansas. It was not passed on the question if it really thought on the will of the"people". People pro and anti- slavery were allowed to voice their opinion on this document.

    Lincoln was a believer of anti-slavery and argued on the banning of slavery but was satified with just stopping the spead of slavery in the west. While Douglas firmly believed that each territory should decide on if they want to allow slavery or not.

Attempting to make of move to end slavery/start a slave rebellion. Hes an abolitionist. He ended up getting executed by Virginia from starting a raid that failed.

    Abraham Lincoln wont the presidental election in 1860. He had 40% less poular vote but the Electoral College Votes he easily won over the other canidates. Lincoln was a Republican.

    Lincolns main goal in his Inaugural Address was to let people know they main purpose is to hold the union together and prevent war. He believe it would leave America on display for Britain and France. And that is not benefitial for the nation. Along with trying to calm down the slave states by saying he doesnt plan to outlaw slave from those slaves states that already exist.

    11 southern states withdrewal from the Union in 1860 that enevitaly leads to the Civil War. They were Southern States who chose this because of Lincoln chance of getting elected as president. Inevitably starting the Civil War.
