Em 1987, a Apple Computer introduziu o Macintosh SE. Essencialmente, era o mesmo Macintosh Plus, com o gabinete modernizado, o mesmo processador, clock, memória, interface SCSI, mas sem o HD. O objetivo era ter uma máquina mais barata para substituir o primeiro Macintosh. -

O Macintosh SE/30, que tinha o novo SuperDrive (não, não era o gravador de CD/DVD) de 3,5 polegadas e 1,44 MB de capacidade, um HD de 40 ou 80 MB e vinha com o System 6.0.3. Mas o principal avanço desta nova máquina era que o seu controlador de sistema era de 32 Bits - até então, os Macs de baixo custo eram 16 bits - e seu processador rodava com clock de 16 MHz. Outro avanço do SE/30 foi a introdução da unidade de co-processamento matemático, ou co-processador, o Motorola 68882. -

The Power Mac G4 (PCI Graphics) was housed in a tower style case similar to the Blue and White G3 except with a Graphite-colored case. It ran the new PowerPC 7400 processor at 350Mhz.
