    During 1804 Lewis and Clark started the expedition to the west. Their expedition lasted around 2 years, and they found many new plants, animals, and Native American tribes.

    In 1845 the Clipper Ship (The Rainbow) was created. This ship allowed people to haul larger loads of materials. The Clipper Ship greatly boosted trade.
  • The Irish Potato Famine

    The Irish Potato famine was a food shortage that took place in Ireland. The reason it was called the potato famine was because many people only had potatoes to eat. The Irish Potato Famine led to a large amount of Irish coming to The United States of America.
  • California Gold Rush

    While the United States expanded out west people found gold in California. The word spread back east and people got excited that they would have a chance to get rich. This led to many families making the long track to California were they would set up a new life in hopes of getting rich off of gold.
