    spurred western exploration and expansions. One of the most significant developments in American History. Many could say that getting this land was luck because napoleon willing and offered to sell the land to us for a good price.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    This was an expedition to explore North America West.
  • Embargo Act

    The embargo Act was to stop all US trade with foreign ports. Jefferson thought that would stop Britain and France messing with American ships but they were not threatened/intimated by this loss of trade.
  • War of 1812

    The first time Congress declared war with Britain to stop the interference with our ships.
  • Treaty of Ghent

    The two countries agreed to restore previous boundaries and return prisoneers.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Occurred after the treaty of Ghent was signed and if the British had won they would have tried to revise the treaty in their favor. This battle displayed our young country with strength and courage and brought a wave of patriotism.

    Campaign of 1828 between the national republicans and the jacksonian democrats both sides engaged in personal attacks.
  • Indian removal act

    Congress debated the Indian removal act , authorized the president to ignore previous treaties and move 74,000 Indians.
  • Trail of Tears

    Over 100,000 Indians moved west after the government used coerced treaties and the Indians were brutally treated. Over 3,000 Indians died on this trail.
