Originally found in Philadelphia, the U.S. capitol was to be moved to a more southerly & agricultral region apart from economic elites such as bankers, finaciers & merchants. Washington retained Pierre Charles L'enfant, a french engineer & former officer in the Continental Army, to design & lay out the new Capitol. -

The Declaration of Independence is a verbal statment from a meeting originally from 1776. Thomas Jefferson( 3rd president) composed the speech that day, after John Adam(2nd president) talked him into doing it. Who also was a close friend to Jefferson.The declaration of independence is the day when thirteens colonies was no longer a part of british empire. This day was celebrate every year on july 4th.
