John Adams
John Adams was elected president in 1797. He only served for one term. During this term he signed the controversial Alien and Sedition Acts. He also built up the Army and Navy in an undeclared naval war with France. -

During these terms he orchestrated the Louisiana Purchase which doubled the size of the United States. He also tried to reduce National debt by cutting military spending and reducing government expenditures. -
James Madison
Madison was elected President in 1809. He served two terms, with his second term ending in 1817. During his terms as President he led the United States into the War of 1812 against Great Britain. He also advocated for the National Bank to help the wars financial needs. -
James Monroe
Monroe was elected President in 1817. He served two terms, with his second term ending in 1825. During his terms as President the federalist party collapsed as a national political force and he was re- elected, unopposed in 1820. He also signed the Missouri compromise, which admitted Missouri as a slave state. -
John Quincy Adams
Adams was elected President in 1825. He served one term with it ending in 1829. He was elected president because the electoral college failed to produce a winner. During his terms he closed down all of the American ports to trade with British colonies. -
Andrew Jackson
Jackson was elected President in 1829. He served two terms, with his second term ending in 1837. During his terms as President he paid off national debt. He also recognized the Republic of Texas. -

Buren was elected President in 1837. He served one term, ending in 1841. During his term as President he

William Henry Harrison
Madison was elected President in 1841. He served only one year, with his term ending in 1841. After a month into his Presidency he dies from pneumonia. -
John Tyler
Tyler was elected President in 1841. He served only one term, with his it ending in 1845. During his term as President he saw the annexation of Texas.
