Stono Rebellion
Group of slaves escape their captors and take up arms after raiding a general store. Begin journey to Spanish controlled Florida in order to gain freedom. -
Currency Act
Act is passed by the English Parliament, banning the issuing of paper money by the New England colonies. Furthers tension between colonist and British rule. -
French and Indian War
Arguments over claims to the Ohio river valley spark the beginning of the French and Indian war. British eventually win but poor leadership and poor treatment to colonist cause distrust towards the crown to grow. -
Fist Continental Congress
56 delegates gather to have a free speech debate to discuss what's happening around the colonies. Great Britain declares it an illegal assembly. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
Shot heard around the world is fired. British troops led by General Gage and colonial troops led by John Parker fire upon each other. Begins the American Revolution. -
Declaration of Independence
Second continental congress meets in Philadelphia and Write Declaration declaring freedom and independence from Britain. -
Northwest Ordinance
Northwest Territory is added to the United States and 5 more states are added.
