Fought over the Ohio Company. This war is also referred to as the Seven Year War. -
Quartering Act
Each assembly was directed to provide for the basic needs of soldiers stationed within borders. -
Stamp Act
First direct tax on colonies where things like newspapers and pamphlets must bear a stamp. -
Declaratory Act
Parliament saying they can pass any law on the colonies and they can not do anything about it. -
First Continental Congress
An illegal assembly that declared their rights and grievances to Great Britain. -
American Revolutionary War
The colonies fighting for their freedoms and rights. -
Battle of Saratoga
This battle was a turning point because France aided the colonies when the British surrendered at this battle -
Ratification of the Constitution
Created to fix Articles of Confederation. Ended with the great compromise creating upper and lower chambers of the house. -
Election of 1788
George Washington won and set precedent with many of the things he did. -
Whiskey Rebellion
Whiskey tax was burdened on western farmers causing them to revolt. Military force was able to be used to end the rebellion. -
Election of 1796
John Adams barely won with 71 votes. Thomas Jefferson was Vice President. -
Election of 1800
Jefferson and Burr both had 73 votes which led to Hamilton and Bayard swaying the vote to Jefferson.
