President William Howard Taft introduced the tax law. This law soon became the 16th Amendment. -
Congress Passes 16th Amendment
Congress passes the law about a month after President Taft introduces it. It is sent off to the state legislatures to be ratified. -

Still Causing Controversy Today
Many people believe that everyone should have to pay the same amount of taxes. Other people believe that people that are well off should be paying more. Overall this amendment has caused alot of issues. These issues will probably never be settled because the government can't make everyone happy.
