  • Jamestown founded in 1607

    Jamestown was the first permanent colony founded in the new world. They settled right by water for access to many things.
  • African Slaves

    Slaves were brought over to Jamestown for the first time, and slavery had begun.
  • Plymouth Established

    Settlers came over and named a big rock Plymouth rock, and then settled near by the rock.
  • Plymouth Learns to Grow Crops

    Plymouth was struggling to provide food, and so they befriended the tribe, the Wampanoags. They taught them hunt, fish, and grow good crops.
  • Massachusetts Bay Founded

    Massachusetts Bay Founded
    The puritans founded this community after they had come over from England. They wanted to build a religious community.
  • Toleration Act

    This law was put in place to protect peoples religious freedoms in the colony.
  • King Charles I Executed

    The puritans took over England and killed their leader. They claimed he had committed treason.
  • First Navigation Act Passed

    These laws were put in place by Great Britain to control the colonies. This is now the start of the revolution.
  • Bacon's Rebellion

    Bacon wanted to get Native Americans out of the colonies and the governor, Berkeley, told him no. Bacon then got a group together and set fire to Jamestown.
  • Salem Witch Trials

    Salem Witch Trials
    Young girls in Massachusetts claimed that women in the colony were performing witch craft. This led to many deaths and tons of uproar in the colonies.
