Constitutional Amendments

1st Amendment
Freedom of Religion and Speech allows us to state our opinion and be whatever religion we are today. -
2nd Amendment
The second amendment allows us to have a well regulated army and for each of us to be able to have a weapon to defend ourselves against a tyrannical government today. -
4th Amendment
Because of the fourth amendment, we don't have to worry about modern officials coming into our homes and taking all of our stuff. They can only do this with a just warrant. -
5th Amendment
This is important today because the police can't come and arrest you and convict you without a trial and prove that you are innocent or guilty. -
6th Amendment
This is important today because one person is not enough to judge what is right or wrong and this amendment protect the right to have a court by jury. -
7th Amendment
If my neighbor sued my dad, there would have to be a jury trial which would make it more fair for my dad if he got sued for mowing half of my neighbors yard! -
8th Amendment
This amendment was made for future generations like us so that if we went to jail for committing a petty crime the bail price would be nothing close to $100,000. Bail has to be a fair price for whatever crime. -
9th Amendment
This is important today because this amendment protects our basic humans rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness which are not included in the Constitution. The Constitution is not all of our rights. There are rights that are obvious and protected by this amendment. -
13th Amendment
America is made up of many races, this includes more than African American, Asian American, Native American, and Mexican American. This amendment insures that none of them can be enslaved due to the color of their skin. Slavery is a thing of the past in America. -
15th Amendment
This is important today because when black people are old enough to vote, they can vote. This includes all races of American citizenship. They have a voice in the government along with white people. -
17th Amendment
This is important because if the government picked which Senators there would be, the people wouldn't really have a right to vote. The Senators are the people's representatives and now they actually represent the people, legit! -
19th Amendment
If this amendment wasn't passed, 49% of the adults in this country wouldn't be able to vote. Smart women, like my mother, deserve the right to vote and have a say in the government. -
22nd Amendment
This amendment insures that presidents can only serve for two terms, 8 years. This insures that one person can't wield too much power in the government. -
23rd Amendment
This is important today because before this amendment people in District of Columbia did not have the same right to vote as the rest of the states. The people there are citizens and should have that right. -
24th Amendment
This amendment is important now because many black people would not have the money to vote. Poll taxes made it so that you had to pay to vote. It denied the opportunity to vote for people who couldn't afford it.
