In 1778 when the british had no where to keep all of their prisoners, they actually shipped them to Australia. Then as they got there, the jails wouldn't be all protected. But the prisoners had no where to escape from because they were either surrounded by deserts or water. -

In 1861 the government officials created boundaries for the colonies in Autralia. -

In 1868 the British had finally stopped sending prisoners to Australia. Actually for eighty years, that's unbelieveable!!! -
Commonwealth
The commonwealth of Australia was established this year. -
Australia's Capital
Canberra was finally completed in 1927, and it was named Australia's capital. -
Help the Aborigines
In 1967 the federal government began to pass legislation to help the Aborigines. -
