    In these pages, the author introduces the main character as Clay Jenson. One day a package lands on his front porch adressed to him. He finds that in the box are 7 tapes marked 1-13. When he listens to the first tape, he hears the voice of a girl in his class that committed suicide. As he gets further into the first tape, he finds out that the tapes are all about different people and reasons why the girl killed herself. He also finds out that he recieved the tapes mention him.

    In these pages, Cley finds out that the girl who killed herself, Hannah Baker, was made fun of and bullied by people who she trusted to be her friends. Hannah was new to school that year so she didnt know anyone and a new friend that she made was only using her.

  • Pages 123-197, (total 197)

    In these pages, Cley learns moe about a poem that went into teh school newspaper. He finds that Hannah wrote the poem and it was all about her struggle with herself and a friend that she trusted stole it from her and put it in the school paper. They even read about it in class and kids made fun of it and picked it apart and she then gave up poetry for good.

  • Pages 247- 288, (total- 288)

    In these last pages of the book, Cley learns that Hannah was reaching out for help and no one even took the time to notice. Th e people on the tapes, including him, used her and hurt her and didnt care enough to see her pain. He realizes that his life, going to school, seeing the other people mentioned in the tapes, will never be the same.

    After more listening, Cley finds out a lot about Hannah that he didnt know, He finds out that at a party she was at, she was in a dark corner of a room when a a guy opened and door and another guy brought in a drunk sleeping girl and raped her and Hannah didnt stop him. Cley also gets to the start of the tape about him and how he didnt do anything bad to her. but he still affected her because she liked him and and he liked her but then he heard rumors about her and didnt talk to her.
