Roanoke Island
Queen Elizabeth allowed Raleigh to send over 100 men to Roanoke Island. When the 100 people arrived, they were to late for harvesting crops. Afterward, their supplies were were dwindling, so they left. -
John White Is In Business
Raleigh was angry about the desertion, so he hired Simon Fernandez to transport 100 people (men, women, and children) to start a more permanent settlement. He allowed John White to bring his family and be in charge. When all of the 100 people arrived they found some men were killed by some of the natives. -
Unlucky
John White was an very unlucky man. He could never see his family because the funds weren't enough to explore. Now the colony is called," The Lost Colony" -
CROATOAN?
One Day, Fernandez demanded to settle back at Roanoke Island. Not long from settling, John White left to England to get more supplies. It was two years after, John White was able to come back to Roanoke because of war with England and Spain. Suddenly, everyone was gone. John White tried his best to search the area. The only thing he found was a word carved in a tree. (CROATOAN) Croatoan was a local tribe, so he went to search. Then out of no where, a hurricane lead John white back to England. -
John Smith Arrival
Twenty years later in 1607, a group of over 100 people landed in the banks of Virginia's James River. Sadly, the river was unhealthy to drink. When they was settling some natives attacked, but they were determined to stay. Winter started to come and the food supplies were low. Then John Smith (the leader) build a fort for protection and send 15 men for supplies (the men did survived the trip to get supplies). Suddenly one day, John Smith got captured by the natives in search for some food. -
Bye Bye John Smith
As the natives were about to kill him a girl named Pocahontoas threw herself and recalled for peace. They became friends with the settlers and taught the how to grow tobacco. Then he died after the the trip to England four years later. -
Why
Later on, most of the Powhatans were imprison because of having some of the men's weapons. They were all converted to Christianity. In addition, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina were being colonized. -
New Land
Some new land were used for new plantation. Their cash crops were tobacco, rice, and indigo. The weather was mild, fertile, and plenty of rain. The House Of Burgesses was made for the government in witch a indentured servant arrives by boat. As they natives started to die they started using Africans. -
Plymouth Rock
In 1633 New England landed at Plymouth Rock because the have to find shore quickly after the storm! -
Middle Colonies' Land
The middle colonies's land had a lot of iron for tool, rich farm lands, rivers, and forests. Their colony was also known as the," bread basket" colony.
