Nazi Invasion of Poland
About a week after Germany and Russia signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, the Nazi invaded Poland. They attacked from the north, south and west sides of Poland, killing and capturing cizitians, without the Russians able to do anything. Eventually they pushed them back to the eastern border and took over the country on October 6th. France and Britian, two countries that signed pacts with Poland, declared war on Germany on September 3rd 1939. -
Germany invades France
On May 10th, Germany proceded with there invansion of France. Both France and Britian believed that the Germans would go through central beligium, but the Germans instead went through the forest, trapping the soilders. They moved along the French coast line and eventually into Paris in June where they captured the city. They would gain control of it until 1944 when France fought back for it. -
Battle of Britian
The battle of Britian was a series of bombing over cities in Britain. About 18 were dropped on the towns in Britain, including about half of them in London. This went on for about a month or two in england. -
Pearl Harbor is Bombed
On December 7th the Japanesse unleached an attack on Peral Harbor, one of the U.S.'s main navy bases. The point was to keep the U.S. from interfering with their military actions. About 350 Japanesse planes bombed the station, killing around 2000 and wounding another 1000. The following day, America declared war on Japan and two days after that declared war on Germany and Italy. -
The Final Soultion
The final soultion was a plan made up by the Nazi leaders, including Adolf Hitler, leader of the nazis, and Heinrich Himmler, the guy who came up with the plan. The soultion was the mass murder of millions of Jews, in which they were sent to extermination camps. -
Italy Surrenders
Itlay was the first of the three Axies powerhosues to surrender. The allies invaded Sicily by air and land and eventually forced them to surreneder. They fought in Italy until the war ended with Nazi Germany, who stayed put in Italy until the wat in europe ended. -
D-DAY; Invansion of Normany
On June 6th, the allies attacked on four beaches on France, the main one being Normandy. Over 200,000 soilders died during the operation ethier by paratrooper or invasion on the beach. Also included later on were bombings and naval bomboardments The invansion would go on till about mid june. -
Germany retreats from Normany
On August 12th, Germany finally retreated from Normandy and started getting pushed back to Germany. This battle was the turning point of the war, as Germany started to fall down to the Allies. By August 30th, Germany was finally past Seine and out of the country of France -
Hitler commits suscide
From May 1st to May 4th, the German forces fell to the Russians and surendered to the Allies. The allies accessed to Germany, just outside where the Naziz were hiding. Hitler just a day after marrying his wife killed himself with a gunshot and his wife taking poisin. Days later the leaders of the NAzi army surrendered to the allies ending the European part of World War II -
U.S. uses Atomic Bombs on Japan
After years of testing out the bomb, they finally used it on Japan. The U.S. dropped little boy on Hiroshima on August 6th and then fat man on Nagasaki on August 9th. The bombs lead to over 200,000 japanesse dead and ended the ar on August 15th. Some people beielved the bombing as unethical and thought that it shouldn't have happened.
