The Polish September Campaign also known as The Polish-German War of 1939. Started September 1,1936 ended October 6, 1936. Germany attacked quicklu without any warning using the military term Blitzkrieg also known as lighting war. They invaded Poland from the north, south, and west. This event marked the start of World War II as Poland's western allies, the United Kingdom and France, on September 3 declared war on Germany. -
Germany Invades Denmark and Norway
Opertation Weserubung was the code name for this event. It was the first sign that the "Phoney War” period that had followed the Polish campaign of 1939 was coming to an end. -
Massive German air raid on London
Saint Paul's Cathedral stands gloriously in the distance amid the wreckage caused by the German fire-bombing of London. Sunday, December 29, 1940. Aircraft blanket incendiary bombs over London, setting both banks of the Thames ablaze and killing almost 3,600 British civilians. The "London Blitz" killed thousands of civilians. -
The Lend-Lease Act
The name of the program under which the United States of America supplied the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, China, France and other Allied nations with vast amounts of war material between 1941 and 1945. Signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. A sum of $50 billion was appropriated by Congress for Lend-Lease. The money went to 38 different countries with Britain receiving over $31 billion. Over the next few years the British government repaid $650 million of this sum. -

Operation Barbarossa
German soldiers battle the Russians after the start of Operation Barbarossa, the Nazi invasion of Soviet Russia. Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II that began on 22 June 1941.Over 4.5 million troops of the Axis powers invaded the USSR along a 2,900 km (1,800 mi) front. In addition to the large number of troops, it also involved 600,000 motor vehicles and 750,000 horses. -

Thiis battle laasted from July 1st to July 30th. This battle was fought in the deserts of North Africa. It is seen as one of the decisive victories of World War Two. It was fought between Germany and Italy. -

The First Atomic Bomb Dropped On Japan
After Japanese leaders flatly rejected the Potsdam Declaration, President Truman authorized use of the bomb anytime after August 3, 1945. The bomb nicknamed Little Boy, was dropped on the city of Hiroshima. It instanly killed 70,000 people just by the flash of heat and leveling over 60 percent of the city. The bomb was dropped at 8:15 A.M on August 6,1945.
