  • Nazis take Czechoslovakia.

    Czechoslovakia was a country sacrificed to attempt to prevent Germany's imperial aims. The Czech was ginven over at the signing of the Munich pact to keep peace. also gave hitler most of their resources and they were left to Hitler very vulnerable for dominance.
  • Nazis sign 'Pact of Steel' with Italy.

    the Pact of Steel was an alliance between Italy and Germany. It had two parts to it. The first was for trust and cooperation and the second was for military and economy. The Pact of Steels original name was going to be "The Pact of Blood".
  • Nazis invade Poland.

    The invasion of Poland or other known as the September Campaign was an invasion of Poland by Germany, and the Soviet Union. Some months later there was the signing of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and Poland was annexed and divded amongst the Soviets and Germany.
  • Assassination attempt on Hitler fails.

    Every year in Munich Hitler would make a speech to the veteran soldiers. he would start his speech at 8:30 pm every year and end at 10:00. This year he decided to start his speech a half an hour early though. When he was finished at 9:07 he left and a bomb when off at 9:20 just missing him but killing nine people.
  • Belgium surrenders to the Nazis.

    This was the day that the Belgium king surrendered to Germany. After 18 days of non-stop bombing the king offered an unconditional surrended in which Hitler accespted. from the beginning Belgium was outnumbered and outgunned even with British forces.
  • France signs an armistice with Nazi Germany

    When France signed the armistice with Germany it lead to the German occupation of Paris and about two thirds of France. It established a pro-German state headquarters in southeastern France known as Vichy France. With France surrendered it left the British vulnerable and alone.
  • Battle of Britain begins

    The battle of Britain or "air battle for Britain" was a completley air force battle among Germany and Britain. For its time that was the largest aerial bombing battle. Although Germany lost the battle if they had won they would launched the operation Sea Lion against Britain.
  • Hitler plans Operation Sea Lion (the invasion of Britain)

    Operation Sea Lion was Hitlera plan to invade the United Kingdom. But first he needed complete control over air and sea at the english channel. This however he didnt have because of the defeat at the Battle of Britain so the operation was postponed.
  • Roosevelt re-elected as U.S. president

    The US presidential election was pretty much in the shadows of world war two. This election was interesting mainly because FDR was running for his third term. FDR's competition was Wendell Willkie, a rebublican.
  • President Roosevelt signs the Lend-Lease Act

    The Lend-Lease act which is still in effect today was used to aid Britain against the Germans. This was so that we could sell, trade or dispose of military weapons to the Bristish to help aid them in their war.
  • Germany attacks Soviet Union

  • Pearl Harbor

    The japanese invade Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This is a naval base for the americans. The japanese used blitzkrieg attacks destroying US aircrafts and naval vessels in the harbor. There was a total of about 2,355 US servicemen dead. This attack was a surprise attack to keep the US pacific fleet from invading japan and interfering with their empire. The attack on Pearl Harbor then lead to the US joing in on World War 2. axis powers took this battle.
  • United States and Britain declare war on Japan

  • Japans invades Australia

    Largest Japanese air raid since Pearl Harbor occurs against Darwin, Australia; Japanese invade Bali. This was the first time that Australias ever been attacked. Australia was bombed like in Pearl Harbor. A lot of military ships were sunk and most of the military bases were destroyed.
  • Bataan Death March begins

    Bataan Death March begins as 76,000 Allied powers including 12,000 Americans are forced to walk 60 miles under a blazing sun without food or water toward a new camp, resulting in over 5,000 American deaths. if the soldiers stopped for food or water they were shot. Also if someone was caught helping any soldiers they were shot. In the end the allies came back with reinforcements and helped the soldiers escape. Bataan Death March was in the pacific but the axis had the victory
  • Battle of Stalingrad begins

    The Battle of Stalingrad was the bloodiest in modern history, with combined casualties estimated at over 1,530,000 killed. The Battle of Stalingrad began as the Luftwaffe begins to bomb the city and Soviet shipping on the Volga River
  • Germans surrender at Stalingrad

    when the air got cold and the winter was arising the German soldiers were weak. there was starvation and ongoing soviet attacks. eventually the Germans just couldnt get in Stalingrad and and finally with no re-supply from the air the Germans were doomed. they eventually just stopped coming in andd all German forces stopped.
  • British air raid on Hamburg, Germany

    The British dropped over 3,000 tons of bombs on Hamburg, Germany. Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany so to destroy it that would make quite the impact. the heavy bombers went in during the night and the stealth bombers came in the day. In the end the Bristish suceeded in burning down Hamburg.
  • Liberation of Paris

  • FDR, Churchill, and Stalin meet at Yalta Conference

    A meeting of Josef Stalin, Winston Churchill, and FDR or other known as the big three met at Yalta to discuss post war Europe. It was also to discuss the re establishment of Europe because of the war.
  • Unconditional surrender of Germany's forces to the Allies

    The German high command, general Alfred Jodl signed the unconditional surrender to the allies. At first the general was hoping to limit the terms but commander Dwight Eisenhowser made sure it was uncondititonal. this ended all the wars on paper at least.
  • First atomic bomb dropped, on Hiroshima, Japan

    The US dropped two atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. The US originally intended on having Japan surrender. They ignored that and the president at the time Harry Truman ordered the two bombs be dropped on these two cities. The names for the a-bombs were little boy and fat man,
  • United Nations come together

    The UN came together by FDR was made once World War 2 was just about over. Members from 26 nations came together deciding on what they were going to do with the axis once they won. The UN replaced the League of Nations and was used to stop all the fighting. the meeting took place in New york, US.
