  • Vichy France begins

    Vichy France was the part of France that was part of the German Empire this would stay from June of 1940 to 1944. The French people did not like it and they did not call themselves Vichy like the Nazi's called themselves Nazis.
  • Battle of Britian

    The Battle of Britain lasted between July of 1940 to October of 1940. Hitler did fear that the Britain Air force would do some damage to the German Army so he wanted to destroy the Air Force before he invaded. Germany also had aircraft but they could not stay as long because they would need to return to base and fill up. The German planes would drop bombs on the Britain air fields, and radar systems.
  • FDR approves the shoot on sight

    Roosevelt approved the idea that if you see the enemy you just shoot them without telling them they were shooting them abnd stuff, because Germany was attacaking the United States
  • Japan joins Axis

    Japan wanted control of the Pacific and Germany wanted control of Europe so they believed if the United states had to fight a two front war then each country would have a better success of getting what it wanted therefore Japan would join the axis.
  • Hitler breaks Non-Agression Pact

    Hitler made the non-agression pact because he did not want a two front war but he would invade and attack Russia with Operation Barbarossa. Hitler was just playing to buy time so he could have more of an impact on the attack.
  • Japanese Ambassador goes to Washington to talk about the violations in the Pacific Islands

    The Japanese ambassador went to Washington to talk about the attacks that had been happening in the Pacific Islands and they had a lot to talk about because it was serious stuff.
  • Pearl Harbor Attacked

    Pearl Harbor December 7th, 1941 when the United States was attacked by Japan when their airplanes bombed out naval bases blowing up many battle ships and resulting in a great loss of the United States. President Roosevelt addressed Congress the day after and in his speech he named the day with the quote. It was very shocking because we were negotiating with Japan and then all of a sudden they attack us. This would lead the United States to declare war on Japan. The infamy speech is known as one
  • Germany and Italy declare war on the United States

    After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and we declared war on them. Hitler was hoping the Japan would declare war on the Soviet Union and Germany, Japan, and Italy were known as the axis powers which was the name of their alliance.
  • U.S. ordered to leave Philippines

    President Roosevelt ordered General Douglas MacArthur to leave the Philippines because Japan was planning an attack the the only way that the United States would have a chance at this time was to send recruitments and back-up troops but we did not have any because of the attack on Peark Harbor so it was just safer to leave, regroupg and hit them harder later.

While moving American prisoners of war to a different location they would enduce them with torture and even murder some of them. If a soldeir stopped to help another it was consdiered wrong and they Japanese treated the Americans and other prisoners like they were not even humans.

    Austrailia and the United States fought against Japan of the coast of the Solomon Islands and it would result in a tactical victory for Japan but a defeat in strategy because they were denied from ivading other islands.     Battle of MidwayThe Battle of Midway is one of the major battles in the Pacific Campaign. After being attacked at Pearl Harbour prior to the battle the United States was angry and ready to get pay back so they would attack the Japanese Navy. It took place on the Midway Islands in between Hawaii and Tokyo, Japan. Japan believed that if the United States took another tough loss they would be out of the war but we won and stuck in the war.     The Guadalcanal Campaign was another battle between the United States and Japan. The United States would win and it would be a very good win because it would put the United States in control for the surrender of Japan later on. It would end the Japanese expanding any further.
  • End of Stalingrad

    This was a large important battle between the Allies and the Nazis for the contorl of Stalingrad, Gmernay wanted to continue to gain territory but the allies wanted them to stop taking over places.
  • Eisenhower goes to Africa

    Eisenhower went to Africa because he was a major leader in the North Africa Campaign. The North Africa Campaign lasted from June of 1940 to May of 1943 and took place in many different areas some of which included Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and other places in northern Africa. The Allies including the United States, United Kingdom, and many other countries fought against Italy, Germany, and the part of France Vichy France. There were many battles filled with ups and downs for bot sides.

    D-dayJune 6th, 1944 is known in history as D-day. Early in the morning paratroopes from the United States, Britian and Canada woulf be dropped on Normandy. All three branches including the air, sea, and land personaell would be used to take down Nazi Germany. Germany was occupying France so the Allied forces waited off the coast of France until it was dark and a midnight began their attack.   • MacArthur returns to the Philippines

    General Douglas MacArthur was in charge of the fleet of United States NAvy that was in the Pacific. He would lead the attack on Japan and take the majorty of the islands that the Japanese had been on except Japan itself. Many history books say at this time the ocean was divided and MacArthur was in charge of the South-West Pacific and Chester Nimitz woull contorl the rest of the Pacific against he Axis. His official title is Supreme Allied Commander of the Southwest Pacific theater.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of BulgeThe Battle of the Bulge took place in Belgium, Luxembourg and also parts of Germany from the middle of December of 1944 to the end of Janurary 1945, with the allies pulling out a victory. The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, and a few other troops would fight against Germany . Germany would attempt to split the troops in half and tackle them that way. He believed after he finished up with the United Kingdom and such he would make a peace treaty and then he could focus on the Soviet

  • Truman becomes President of the United States

    Harry S. Truman would become President when Franklin Roosevelt dies of a massive cerebral hemorrhage. Truman was Roosevelt's vice president, Truman was open to advice from Roosevelt's cabinet and admired Roosevelt.

    Hitler's deathHitler killed himself by shooting himself because one of his head men believed that their army would run out of amunition in the fight against the allies, and also the allies were closing in on him on both sides and Japan had already surrended. His wife committed suicide as well.
  • V-E Day

    May 8th, 1945 is know as Victory in Europe Day or VE Day. On this day the Allies in WWII formally accepted the surrender of Nazi Germany and Hitler no longer being the leader because he commited suicide at the Battle of Berlin. This day was the formal end of the Third Reich as well. The act of surrender was signed on the seventh in Reims, France but it was aratified in Berlin, Germany on the 8th.     On August 6th, 1945 The Enola Bay an American bomber plane dropped the atomic bomb. As a result there were 140,000 deaths approximately from the radiation and also the impact and such in total. The United States was going to have to invade Japan and they believed if they simply dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima then it would result in many fewer Allie deaths and also Japanese deaths than fighting and invading would.     Three days prior to Nagasaki the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki for the same reasons it was dropped on Hiroshima because they believed it would be easier to drop the bomb than actually invade and also they wanted to make Japan surrender.     On September 2, 1945 would be the Japanese Instrument of Surrender which would bring WWII to a close. A great many of people representing places like the United States, China, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and many other would meet on the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on this day. The Japanese foreign minister Mamoru Shigemitsu would sign along with the Chief of the Army General STafff of Japan and the United States General Douglas MacArthur.
