Montgomery Bus Boycott
This day was a start of a long protest. It all started when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man. After that, on December 1, all blacks refused to ride the bus. -
Woolsworth sit-in
Four African American college students sat down at a lunch counter in Woolworth North Carolina. They asked for service but the workers refused. When asked to leave, they simply remained in their seats. -
Freedom Rides
this was the very first Freedom Ride. The bus took seven blacks, and six whites. They were testing the bus system to see if they were following the ruling of Boynton v. Virginia. -
Birmingham Children's March and boycott
Children sang "We Shall Overcome" while being sprayed with powerful hoses and being attacked by German Shepards. -
March on Washington
Protesters marched in Washington D.C. and demanded jobs and freedom -
Selma to Montgomery March
This march took three weeks to end. The protester were voting for voting rights. They were stopped six blocks from where they started by police and had to go back to Selma.
