Pan-Arabism
When Nasser becomes ruler of Egypt 1954 Abduls goals are to destroy Israel, and non-alignment. He Comes up with the idea of Pan-Arabism, the main purpose of it is to unite the arab people under secularism,socialism and nationalism. Pan-Arabism fails. -
Six day war
When Nasser told his people he wanted to destroy Israel Israelies delt threatened and launched a war against him that was stopped by the US after six days. Land such as the Gaza Strip, Sinai, and the Golden Hights were gained. Because of the loss Nasser loses his popularity and Egypt and Syria want revenge. -
Camp David Accords
Anwar Al Sadat, president of Egypt attacks Israel in 1973 and loses. Sadat relizes that he can not defeat Israel so he calles Menachem Begin,Prime Minister of Israel to sign a peace treaty. The nagotiation happens at camp david hosted by Jimmy Carter. The result is peace between Egypt and Israel and the Sinai is given back to Egypt. The Arabs thought that Sadat was a sell out and he was assinated in 1981. -

Iraq invasion of Kuwait
n 1990 Iraq accused Kuwait of stealing their oil through slant drilling. On august 2,1990 Iraq,led by Saddam Hussein launched an attack on Kuwait which lasted 7 months. 1,000 Kuwaiti Civilians were killed and 300,000 fled. The Iranian occupation of Kuwait was condemned by all major powers. The UN passed a resolution stating that Iraq had to withdraw all forces from Kuwait. After Iraq refused an assult was led on Iraq military forces in Kuwait and on february 25 Kuwait was liberated from Iraq.
