Bernadette leaves to go to her mother's house
Bernadette leaves to go to her mother's house because she needs to finish a story for the newspaper and there are too many distractions at home so she can't work. She also leaves because she gets angry that her husband forgot about her birthday, which was the next day. -
Bernadette drinks something
After reaching her mother's house, Bernadette drinks a glass of a liquid called Forrior Geraugh and she makes a toast, wishing that her mother was here and to youth- her last night of it. -
Bernadette wakes up 12 again
The morning of her fortieth birthday, Bernadette wakes up to find herself 12 years old again and she hears her mom calling her. Thinking its a dream she goes downstairs and finds her mom alive in the kitchen. -
Bernadette goes to school
As soon as Bernadette leaves the house to go to school, she realizes that although she had been returned to her twelve year old self, the neighborhood was still the same as before and Patrick was in school. So, her kids were existent. -
Missing Bernadette
By this time Bernadette's family gets worried about where she could be. The news about her missing gets in the newspaper. Police are trying to look for her but they can't find her. The whole town knows about her missing and no one seems to know where she could be. -
1 month since Bernadette left home
It has been one month since Bernadette left the house but there is still no clue about where she is. Patrick has sent many emails knowing that she took her laptop with her but she hasn't responded to even one of them. At this point, everyone is starting to get extremely worried. -
Key in the garden
When Patrick was reading his history report about his grandmother, he remembered her garden and something else that she hid there: an extra house key. -
Bernadette's mom is suspicious
When Bernadette brings home her report card, her mom sees that she has straight A's, when she has never done better than a C plus in math. She also says," I have a suspicious mind, Bernadette. Brilliance doesn't happen overnight, nor to a girl who rarely cracks her textbooks." This shows that she is very suspicious and she doesn't know what Bernadette is doing. -
Patrick tries the key
Patrick walks to his grandma's house after school to try if the key that she hides in the garden works for the back door. He cleans it and tries it but alas it doesn't work no matter how many times he tries. -
Realization
Bernadette realizes that it wasn't only her and her mother who returned back to 1972, but it was the whole house. She figured this out when she saw President Nixon on TV and Sammy Davis's song on the radio. The laptop hadn't been working the whole time she went back to her mother's house because it hadn't been invented in 1972. After she realizes this, she goes out for a walk and then she is able to check her email and respond to all of Patricks emails. -
Enchanted
After Bernadette gets back home from school, she finds out that her mom knows that they are enchanted. Her mom figured it out because she saw Patrick in the garden and if Bernadette was twelve then Patrick couldn't have been there. -
Forrior Geraugh magic
Bernadette's mother asks her if she had been in her pantry the night she came. Bernadette says yes and shows her the bottle of Forrior Geraugh that she had been drinking. Bernadette also admits to her that she was missing her and she was wishing she wasn't so old. Her mother tells her that mixing Forrior Geraugh with wishes summons the fairies and they fulfill your wishes. -
Baking Cure
Bernadette's mother told her that the only way to get out of this situation was to make certain cakes, called soul cakes and eat them, which would summon the fairies and return her back to her forty year old self. She also tells her that the only person that can help her is Patrick and that the only day she can make and eat these cakes is on halloween. So, Bernadette immediately sends him an email telling him what ingredients she needs and some of those ingredients would be very difficult to get -
Ready to bake
Patrick successfully managed to get all the ingredients that his mom needed. -
Bernadette meets Patrick
The 12 year old Bernadette meets Partick in school and tells him that she knows his mother and that he should give the ingredients to her, because she knows where "his mother" is. She tries to do many different things to make him believe that he can trust her and give the ingredients to her. It takes a very long time for Patrick to buy this explanation and to give the ingredients to her, but finally he does. -
Mission Accomplished!
After eating the cakes and going to bed, Bernadette wakes up the morning and she nearly cries out with joy. She was able to finally transform back into her original, 40 year old self!
