    Termination Policy
    The termination policy of 1953 gave (under the juristiction of the U.S congress) Native Americans all the rights and priviledges of a citizen. The idea was to bring an end to tribes and Indian Reservations.
  • Operation Wetback

    Operation Wetback
    The U.S Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) set up an organization, mainly focausing of Mexicans, to get rid of over 1 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. It focused on southwestern United States.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education
    Was a decision made by the U.S Supreme Court, that declared it to be unconsititutional to segregate public school. They could no longer separate the balcks and whites in school.
  • Rosa Parks in Montgomery

    Rosa Parks in Montgomery
    Rosa Parks was taking her daily ride on a bus, but ended up being arrested. She was arrested because she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man instead of standing on the bus.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Montgomery Bus Boycott
    This was a protest against the public transportation system's racial segregated rules. Since the majority of the bus rider customers were black, when they all went against the bus system and walked instead, there was a fincial deficit. It lasted until December 20, 1956.
  • Southern Manifesto

    Southern Manifesto
    This was a document written by the U.S Supremem Court going against the decision of Brown vs. Board of Education. 101 politicians signed this document which stated how they wanted segregation in public schools and integrating was wrong.
  • SCLC

    SCLC
    This was an organization for American Civil Rights. This took a big role in the Civil Rights Movement, and was closely related to Dr. Martin Luthur King, Jr.
  • Little Rock 9

    Little Rock 9
    Was a group of students who were African Americans and attended "Little Rock Central High School. Black students were not allowed in these schools because they were racially segregated and troops prevented them from entering.
  • SNCC Formed

    SNCC Formed
    The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) fought white opression. It was started by younge black college students who were determined to fight segregation and to help give blacks a higher voice in society.
