Assassination of Archduke in Serbia
Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie, dutchess of Hohenburg, were shot and killed by Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo. The reason being was to break off Austria-Hungary's south-Slav provinces so they could be combined to a better Yugoslavia. -

Christmas Truce
The troops shared an unofficial Christmas Truce in the Western Front trenches. The German and British troops shared seasonal greetings and songs between the trenches. Tension was somewhat decreased and they started walking to each others' side bearing gifts. -
Battle of Loos
Battle of Loos was one of the major British offensives mounted on the Western Front. It was the first time the British used poison gas during war. It's famous because it witnessed the first large scale use of 'new' or Kitchener's Army units. -
Arab Revolt of Hejaz
The Arab Revolt of Hejaz began on June 5th. It was initiated by Sherif Hussein bin Ali with the aim of securing independence from the ruling Ottoman Turks and creating a single unified Arab state. On this day, Lord Kitchener also died. -

Greece declares war on the Central Powers, following the abdication of pro-German King Constantine who is replaced by a pro-Allied administration led by Prime Minister Venizelos. Greek soldiers are now added to the Allied ranks. -

The Treaty of Bucharest was a peace treaty in which the German Empire forced Romania to sign, following the Romanian Campaign of 1916-1917. Alexandru Marghiloman negotiated and signed the treaty. -
