The Tea Act
The Tea Act was not a tax. It was a law passed by Brisish Parliment stating that only the East India Company British business could sell tea to the 13 colonies.The Boston Tea Party caused the Intolerable Acts. -

French and Indian War
Was fought between France and England over lands in the Ohio River Valley. The British won but had a lot of debt after the war. Britain told the colonists that they would half to pay for the war by taxes.The colonists resisted. -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act placed a tax on all paper. The colonists did not like this and said "No taxation without representation!" Colonists organized a Stamp Act Congress which sent a pitition to the king and decared a boycott on British goods that led to the repeal of the Samp Act. -
The Intolerable Acts
Britain closed the Boston Harbor and took away the right of the colony of Massachusetts to govern itself. Britain wanted to force the colonists to pay for the tea dumped in the Harbor .The First Continental Congress established a boycott on all the trade with Britain. -
Lexington and Concord
The first shots of the Revolution were fired here.Known as "the shot heard round the world".The British went to Lexinton to capture trouble makers and to Concord to destory the colonists military supplies.Minutemen were ready when the British Redcoats arrived at Lexington. -
The Battle of Bunker Hill
American troops were forced to surrender when they ran out of gun powder. The British had many to die in this battle. During the battle Americans hid behind rocks and trees. to fight the British.The battle showed the Americans that they would need allies to supply ammunition. -
The Battle of Saratoga
The turning point of the war for the American Patriots. American forces defeated the British in their attemt to split the colonies at tthe Hondson River. Because of this victory the French were willing to enter into a alliiance with the Americans which brought both financial aide and help of the French Navy. -
The Battle of Cowpens
An important battle in South Carolina that showed the cooperation of the regular Continental Army nd its helpers. The contry men led the attack and then fled the feild tricking the Brithish into thinking the Americans were retreating. Instead the British were lured to the regular army where they were defeated. -

The final battle of the war. The French blockaded the British ships.The British could not escape. Surrounded by Americans and French forces. The British were defeated and surrounded.
