The Early Life of Frida Kahlo
Famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was born in Mexico City, Mexico in the suburb of Coyoacán in the "Casa Azul" (Blue house) which has now been converted to a museum. Her father, Guillermo Kahlo was a German Photographer and mother Matilde Calderón y Gonzalez of Mexican-Indian decent.
When Frida was six years old, she was diagnosed with polio. The Polio affected her right leg by weakening and stunting the growth of it, however she would always try to hide it by wearing long skirts and pants. -
Tragic Event in Frida's Life
Frida was on her way back from school when the bus she was riding was struck by a streetcar leaving her bedridden with severe injuries for many months having doctors to believe that she wouldnt make it.
While bedridden; her mother managed to make her an easel so that she can paint. Frida made many portraits that showed a reflection on her life. -
Frida and Politics
Sometime in this year Frida joined "The Young Communist League," She becomes heavly involved in the politics. Later within the years groups member from the Cuban Communist party introduces Frida to Diego Rivera who she admired for his mural work.. -
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera
Frida at twenty-two years old marries fourty-four year old Diego Rivera who was also known for his artistic abilities. Their marriage became complicated becuase of their unfaithfulness to eachother. -
Frida's Death
Frida's health became worse after the many surgeries she had due to her bad health and in time it got worse causing an amputation of her leg. She depicted her emotions on how depressed she was in her paintings and often said the pain was so bad she wanted to die. Frida dies in her blue house and the cause of death is suspected of an apparent pulmonary embolism.
