Blackberry Smartphone
The more commonly known smartphone BlackBerry was released in this year.This supported not only a two-way pager but e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, faxing, web browsing and more services. It became a convergent device. -
Invention
This is the first phase of the cultural lag theory, invention. They took the device of a two-way pager and the knowledge of other services such as internet and text messaging and invented the first Blackberry Smartphone. This not only was a regular cell phone as it began to offer plenty of services. -
The Flip
Law 4: The blackberry devices began with a two-way pager with then flipped into a smartphone which offered many more services. Over time many new smartphones have been released and almost every year there are around 2 new smartphones released. -
Enhancement
In the first law regarding what the medium enhanced, we can see that the blackberry smartphone enhanced communication between people, internet surfing and information processing, communcation at all times through text messaging and email. It became a portable device that benefitted many, especially those who use the device with work related reasons. -
Revived Medium
Law 3: This device revived many mediums from the past such as personal communcation at any place, contact with emails at any place or time opposed to always being with a computer. Benefits that a regular cell phone didnt give and a device like a computer wouldnt be accessible at specific times. -
Discovery
Shortly after the first smartphone was invented, it became discovered by many people and was begining to be in use throughout mid 2002 into the next years. This initiated a social change in regards to technology and what a cell phone can offer. -
Obsolete
Law 2: Once this device was discovered, it was obvious that the Blackberry smartphone made other devices such as a regular cell phone that did not offer many services obsolete. -
Diffusion
Throughout the years the blackberry was known but it wasnt until around the year of 2004 that the blackberry became very well known and began to spread throughout the world. In the year 2005, the blackberry was officially a very mainstream cellular device. -
Blackberry Bold 9700
The blackberry bold has been made once again. THe first edition, the blackberry 9800 has been made into a smaller bold which is more beneficial to some people which now includes a track pad opposed to a trackball. -
New Smartphone
At the end of the year 2010, one of the newest blackberry smartphones titled The Torch has been released. This phone offers a touch screen and a slider. It has combined uses of the past into one device.
