During this year, a French man named Samuel De Champlain traveled to North America and founded Quebec. since then French priests as well as traders migrated in the area. -
New France was established
During this time New France had came to be, and it had grown to a good sized population of about 70,000 people. this colony differed from the british colonies, it was in eastern Canada, most were fur traders, and Catholic priests who wished to convert the Natives they fairly got along with. -
British and French raise tensions
the French-British comflict reignited, the French created the Fort Duquesne right where the Ohio River Valley, where British colonies laid. Since the British granted planters the land already and the French wouldn't back off, a war was in question. Due to the French being so friendly with the natives, especially the Hurons, they had mopre people to help them fight. -
Pitt and the Iroquois Fight Back
While the French kept winning battle after battle with the help of the natives, the British king picked new leaders to try and lead them to greatness, one of them being William Pitt. He thought to have the help of the Hurons enemies, the Iroquois. -
Surprise Attack
Just outside Quebec, British troops with their leader, General Wolfe, surprising the French troops and battling them when they weren't ready. The British won this battle, and this helped them make it to victory for the whole war. -
It all comes to an end
In the year of 1763, the French and Indian War finally ends. The British won all land west of the Mississippi River and France got control of some smaller islands off the coast of Canada.
