  • The Start

    The Start
    On this day was really the start of the French and Indian War. An officer named George Washington, who had an outpost called Fort Necessity in Pennsylvania, had a militia that attacked a small detachement of French soldiers at Fort Duquesne. These soldiers quickly defended against them. There was a battle that followed in July that caused Washinton to surrender to the French.Though, Washington didn't give up that easily.
  • British Defeated

    British Defeated
    Washington, along with British general Edward Braddock, went into battle in hopes of driving the French out of the Ohio Valley. An attack was first launched on Fort Duquesne by Braddock. Him as well as about 1,500 soldiers went to the fort and were ambushed by French soldiers and their Native American allies. The British weren't used to this surprise attack, so they turned and fled the scene. Washington was actually very courageous at this time and was surprised by the weakness of the British.
  • Quebec

    Quebec
    Just five years after the start of the war, British troops moved into the Plains of Abraham just outside of Quebec.These troops, with the leadership of General James Wolfe, went to the high, protecting hills of Quebec. A short, but harsh battle was by won by the British against the unsuspecting French and their leader, Marquis de Montcalm. This win led to British victory in the war.
  • Pontiac Attack

    Pontiac Attack
    The spring on 1763 was a time for Pontiac, the Ottawa leader, to see that the loss for the French was also a loss for the Native Americans. Pontiac led Native Americans to capture eight British forts and lay siege to two others in the Ohio Valley. Though in a negative response, smallpox-infected blankets were given to two Deaware chiefs during peace negotiations by the British. The virus spread among the Natives and weakened them.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    By the end of 1763, the British decided they wanted no more conflicts with the Native Americans. The British government created the Proclamation of 1763 which declared the banning of all settlement west of the Appalachians. A Proclamation Line was made because of this ban that the colonists were not allowed to cross.Though, the British were were not too successful at enforcing this ban effectively, which caused colonists to still move onto Native American land in the west.
