Chinese Civil War
At frist China was a Nationalists country,but after World War 2 Mao Zedong help take over and made it a Communist country.Their new leader was Mao Zedong, and he did the same things Stalin did.The civil war started right after World War 2 was over. -
NATO and Warsaw Pact
In 1949, the U.S.A, Canada and ten other countries got together and formed a new military alliance. It was called the,NATO(North Alantic Treaty Organization). Everyone in this pledge that they will help each other if they were attacked.
In 1955 the Soviet Army made their own union with seven satillites in Eatern Europe. This union was nothing like the NATO, it make sure that all the countrys were saying in order and obeying the rules. Also divied them inot the eastern and westerns blocs. -
Korean Conflict
Korea was divided in to two different countrys, the North and the South. The U.S.A was controling the South. Between 1945-1953 South Korea and North Korea were fighting back and forth to gain more of their land back. In the North it was a communist govt, and the South was a Democratic govt.

At the end of World War 2 American was the only country to have Nuclear weapons. This was a great power we had, so that none would want to go to war with us. But by 1953 boths sides had Nuclear weapons,The soviet Union and America. The nuclear arm race was, if we make two bombs then the Soviet Union would make three and it was a on going prosses. We would keep doing this till we had a "balance of terror". -
Communist Cuba and Missile Crises
Cuba was next door to us , in 1961 president Kennedy lauched a invasion to cuba, but at last minute jsut when they were about to attched he changed his mind.The reason we were going to attach in the first place,beacause the president was worried that the communist was going to spread to the U.S.A.

Berlin Wall
This was the day the Berlin wall was bulid, it was made to seprate the east and the west berlin. Berlin was divied into two seprate govt and was controle dby two different people. In the east it was communist govt and stalin ruled that area. Peopl in the west were thriving and many people from the east were crossing over and starting a new life in the west. In the east they were losing alot of people to the west. To stop this they build the wall and stopped to people from leaving. -
Vietnam Conflict
On this day the Vietnames commanders, they did raids on the North islands in the Gulf of Tonkin. Then the next day the South attacked to close U.S. Navy destroyer thinking that we help the north attack their islands. Then president Johnson, asked for a war on the Vietnam. After the pass of the war, the U.S started bombing north Vietnma, over 5 months 50,000 American troops were send to Vietnam.

Eastern European Independence
This is a whole new start for East Europe. The people started to demand for the right of freedom. In Hungary they were still loyal to the Warsaw Pact. In poland they left the communist govt. and started a brand new one. In east berlin the germans wanted out from behind hte wall they wanted to have their rights. Soon they crossed the wall and didnt fear because they knew the soviets were not coming! Alot of changes are happend in East Europe and fast! -
Soviet in Afghanistan
The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, this was along draw out war. The Americans help support this war, because the Soviet Union help the Vietnams when we were fighting them. We wanted to give them a war like we had in Vietnam.
