    He was the winner and Nobel prize winner of the American Civil Rights movement. He was the youngest man to receive the Nobel piece prize. Martin Luther abolished segregation and voiced his opinion to create peace

    He published a book called, "Open Classroom", which helps to promote open education. It is an approach emphasizing student-centered classrooms and active, holistic learning.
  • Women's Rights

    Women's Rights
    Shirley Anita Chisholm went to teach a college and co-funded the national political congress of black women. Today she has served 14 years in congress and she was one of the four founders of the National Women's Rights caucus. She fought for change in the 21'st century.
  • The Rehabilitation Act

    The Rehabilitation Act
    The Rehabilitation Act became a law. Section 504 of this act guarantees civil rights for people with disabilities in the context of federally funded institutions. It also requires accommodations in schools including participation in programs and activities as well as access to buildings.

    This act is to provide supplementary services and to provide in service training. Also, to offset the costs of additional basic instructional services that are directly attributable to the presence of eligible children.

    This act was aimed to help minority students to enter fields where the seem to be underrepresented and to give incentives to minorities to enter these programs. Their main focus was a full government funding for minority education.

    IDEA reauthorizes and modifies IDEA. Changes in which take effort on July 1,include the modifications in the IEP process and procedural safeguards, increased authority for school personnel in special education placement decisions, and alignment of IDEA with the No Child Left Behind Act.

    Transgender Students
    School districts allow transgender students to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity. Districts that do not apply could face lawsuits or lose federal aid.
