  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act extended the molasses act by extending the tax on imports from the Caribbean from 6 cents to 3 cents per gallon. The colonists used sugar and molasses to make rum, so they were mad that taxes were established.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act enforced that all printed material had to carry a stamp that wasn't free. Used to gain revenue from Britain and used a lot of printers and lawyers . colonists were upset and boycotted against the British parliament and British goods, and for the first time, the colonies worked together.

    The Declaratory Act was when the British parliament repealed the Stamp Act. The colonists saw this as a huge victory.

    The Townshend Act was an enforcement of a New board of customs to stop smuggling. The Colonists did not like it one bit and responded in a boycott with women this time.

    The Tea Act was tax exemptions on tea coming in from British east India company which allowed them to give cheap tea to the colonies which lowered the price of tea. Colonists were mad and dressed up as Indians and dumped the tea off the boat which resulted in an equivalent to a modern day 4 million dollar loss. The colonists were angry on principle

    Prepare for war, Massachusetts calling colonist to resistance/disobey the acts. The revolutionary war started because of The Taxation Acts, the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, and the Intolerable Acts.
