Hitler invades Poland- WWII begins
On this day Hitler invaded Poland with 1.5 million troops and 1750 mile border with Germany. Germans Luftwaffe bombed Polish airfields and German warships and U-boats attacked Polish naval forces in the Baltic Sea. The Britains and French were against this moved and declared war on Germany

Winston Churchill becomes a leader of the British Government
when the British forces failed to prevent German occupation over Norway, Chamberlain lost most of the support he had from people. Then when Hitler invaded Belgium, Holland and Netherlands he lost all his support. Churchill had good military leadership so he became prime minster and he promised his country the British people will never surrender.

Battle of Britain
This battle started when Germany begins bombing raids against Britain raids. Although Britain had less fighters than the Germans–600 to 1,300 it had a few advantages, such as an effective radar system, which made the prospects of a German sneak attack unlikely, they had superior quality of aircraft. the battle lasted for 3 months and a half with British victory

The German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact fell apart in June 1941, when Nazi forces invaded the Soviet Union. The non aggression pact contained that these 2 countries don't take military action towards each other for 10 years and the germans broke it by attacking the Soviet union on this day.

pearl harbor attack
the Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at pearl harbor, the event lasted for 2 hours before America was defeated. Two days later the American congress declared war on Japan, later Japan got it's allies and Germany and Italy declared war on USA.

the battle of coral
The Japanese attacked the coral sea with an invasion of Port Moresby in southeast New Guinea, but their plans were destroyed by Allied forces. the battle left the Japanese without enough planes to continue the battle which lead to Allied victory.

Liberation of Paris
Paris was occupied from the Nazi's for the past 4 years. On the morning of August 25, the 2nd Armored Division swept clear the western half of Paris while the 4th Infantry Division cleared the eastern part and Paris was liberated.

On this day American, Canadian and British troops took over the coast of France, Normandy. This day became one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history. By the end of the day more than 4,000 Allied troops lost their lives in the D-Day invasion, with thousands more wounded or missing.

1st liberated concentration camp
Soviet soldiers were the first to liberate concentration camp prisoners in the final stages of the war. On July 23, 1944, they entered the Majdanek camp in Poland, and later overran several other killing centers. The americans also liberated other camps like Dachua. The Germans tried to hide all the evidence of harm but failed and all the camps got liberated.

The new German General Alfred Jodl signs the unconditional surrender of the German forces which he only wanted in the western part but General Dwight Eisenhower opposed him. in conclusion the fighting still went on in the East but stopped in the West.

first atomic bomb
Hiroshima, was the first ever atomic bomb dropped in war which was dropped by the Americans against the Japanese. 8,000 people were killed instantly from the bombing but over all 192,020 were killed from the bomb and its after math.

This bomb was also dropped by America in Nagasaki, Japan, resulting the unconditional surrender of Japan. The number of people killed were estimated to be from 60,000 - 80,000.

japan surrenders
when time past it became obvious that japan couldn't hold on to the war any longer. When the Americans dropped the 2 atomic bombs there land and weapons got destroyed, there people died and they began to weaken up. The people were starving and they couldn't take it any longer so they had to surrender, days after the second atomic bomb
