His death starts WW1. When he was on a horse ride through town and a citizen ran around security and shot Franz 3 times. One of the 3 bullets killing the driver of the horses. -

The battle between the Allied powers and the Central powers. It was the first world war. Which lasted 5 years from 1914 to 1919.It was also the first war to use chlorine gas. -
Russia mobilizes
Russia mobilizes its army to Austria-Hungary in favor of its ally Serbia. This starts a reaction that leads to the mobilization of the European Great Powers and inevitably to the outbreak of hostilities. After losing their last battle they did not want to seem weak so they wanted to start the battle so other countries would be scared of them. -
WW1 Begins
Germany invades Belgium because they want to show their authority in the world and that they are the strongest and can not be beat. So that they can go to italy and attack them. -
Germans fire
Germans fired chlorine gas on french lines. which is the first time gas was used in the war. Also germany still couldn't breach though the lines even though they still had the chlorine gas. Which is pretty sad if you used gas and still couldn't win. -
Lusitania sinks
A German submarine the passenger liner of the Lusitania. The ship carries 1,198, and 128 of them were americans. This ship was supposed to be carrying war materials for britain to help them in the world. Which is why it was sunken and that made america very mad. -
First Tanks
The british employ the first tanks ever used in battle, at Delville Wood. They clear paths easily for infantry but very slow and heavy. They didn't not fire fast either because drafted people were not strong enough to lift shells into the chamber for them to fire. -
Submarines back
Germany resumes submarine warfare in European waterways. This doesn't work because america is still able to come back and defeat germany in the war even though they had the biggest army. Which shows that germany is not very good at leading an army. Also that they need better generals to lead them if they still lost with the biggest army. -
Wilson for war
President outlines his case for war to congress, and persuades them to join in the war and later on defeat germany in the war and gain more power. -
U.S enters war
Congress authorizes a declaration of war against Germany. The U.S entered the war on the side with france and britain. To later lead the side onto the a win over the central powers -

William was drafted into the army on this date then he was stationed at fort Hamilton in Brooklyn New York. His father was never drafted or in the war as a soldier neither was his mother, his parents lived in england. -

Treaty of versailles
This treaty ended ww1 by saying all nations must stop their feud and that the war will not carry on. It ended the state of war between the Central powers and Allied powers. But not stopping their hate for each other.
