Franz Ferdinand Assination
Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip, who was part of the Black Hand. He joined the Black Hand after he was rejected by the army. Because of this assisnation Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia and that was the start of the war -
Start of war
The start of the war when the Serbians were accused of killing the important person and Austria-Hungary declared war. -

Schleiffen Plan
This plan was when Germany went through Belgium and go around France and attack from behind. This worked for a little bit but then died off. -
Trench Warfare
Trench Warfare was when they dug trenches starting at the Marne and going across the land. In between the trenches was a territory called no mans land. Because of this barbed wire was created to stop men from just charging in. -
Britain Created Blockades
Britain created blockades so that no supplies could get to Germany. -
Sinking of the Lusitania
The sinking of the Lusitania angered the Americans because there was 128 Americans on board. This was sank by a German U-Boat. -
New Warfare
New inventions were made, there were tanks, mustard gas, U-boats (submarines), planes with a machine gun, and torpedoes. -
Zimmerman Telegram
The Zimmerman Telegram was from Germany to Mexico telling them to help attack the United States. Germany promised them that they would get Mew Mexico, Texas, etc. The US intercepted this telegram and that is the main reason why they entered the war. -
When Russia left the war
They were having a civil war at home so they pulled out to go deal with that. They were scared that Germany was going to attack and wanted out so they created the Brest-Litovsk Treaty -
USA joined the War
The United States joined the war. More than two million America soldiers perished on the battlefield in France. -
Fourteen Points
It was a statement of peace. It was made up of all powers. Except America did not join so that is why WWII sparked because a strong force, USA, did not join. This was kind of like the League of Nations -
Formation of Czechoslovakia
This country was formed after WW1 in Prague. It was created as a critical intervention by Woodrow Wilson. -
End of war
Treaty of Versailles was signed. -
War Guilt Clause
This was part of the Treaty of Versailles where Germany was given the blame for the war and had to pay a lot. Their army now had a restricted size. The Germans ended up breaking the Treaty causing WWII.
